I heard about the Etihad inaugural flight from New York-JFK to Abu Dhabi on its A380, I knew I had to go — not just because I’m a fan of aviation and premium-cabin travel, but also because I wanted to be the first to experience The Residence on the airline’s new flagship route. It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up, so I booked it (and 15 minutes after booking I got a call from the VIP team in Abu Dhabi welcoming me to the experience), looked forward to it for months and was completely in awe of everything I saw — both before I even got to the airport and on board for the duration of the flight.

Etihad Airways is a flag carrier and the second-largest airline of the United Arab Emirates (after Emirates).
