Tesla, Inc. (formerly named Tesla Motors) is an American automaker and energy storage company co-founded by Elon Musk, Martin Eberhard, Marc Tarpenning, JB Straubel and Ian Wright, and is based in Palo Alto, California. The company specializes in electric cars, their powertrain components, and also produces battery charging equipment.[7][8][9]

Tesla first gained widespread attention following its production of the Tesla Roadster, the first electric sports car, in 2008.[10] The company’s second vehicle, the Model S, an electric luxury sedan, debuted in 2012 and is built at the Tesla Factory in California. In Q1 2013, Tesla released its stock profits for the first time from its NASDAQ ticker symbol.[11][12] The Model S has been the world’s best-selling plug-in electric car for two years in a row, 2015 and 2016.[13][14] Its global sales achieved the 150,000 unit milestone in November 2016, four years and five months after its introduction.[15] As of December 2016, the Model S ranks as the world’s all-time second best-selling plug-in after the Nissan Leaf.[16] The Model S was then followed by the Model X, a crossover SUV. Tesla’s next vehicle is the Model 3,[17] which was unveiled in March 2016. It is slated for release in 2017 with a price at US$35,000, before any government incentives.[18][19]

Minecraft is a sandbox video game originally created by Swedish game designer Markus “Notch” Persson, and later fully developed and published by Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft enable players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, resource gathering, crafting, and combat. Multiple gameplay modes are available, including a survival mode where the player must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health, a creative mode where players have unlimited resources to build with and the ability to fly, an adventure mode where players can play custom maps created by other players, and a spectator mode where players can fly around and clip through blocks, but cannot place or destroy any. The PC version of the game is noted for its modding scene, where a dedicated community creates new gameplay mechanics, items, and assets for the game.

Minecraft received praise from critics upon release, and won numerous awards and accolades. As of June 2016, over 106 million copies have been sold across all platforms, making it the second best-selling video game of all time, only behind the various releases of Tetris. In September 2014, Microsoft announced a deal to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition being completed two months later.
